Calcium-activated potassium channel subunit beta-4 RNA is predominantly expressed in brain (across many regions) and adrenal gland and to a lesser extent in the other human tissues. In the mouse, weak-moderate intensity neuronal somatic or somato-dendritic cytoplasmic immunoreacitivty is noticed in multiple brain areas. This pattern is mostly in agreement with available transcriptomic data and is strong in the lateral septum, cerebellar Purkinje-cells and in multiple brainstem nuclei. In addition, a subset of glial cells exhibit moderate immunoreactitivty in the superficial layers of neocortex and in the hippocampus, while capillary endothelia exhibit weak-to moderate immunoreactivity too.
