                                  Mouse gene ENSMUSG00000021680 (version 10)
Annotation summary Corticotropin-releasing factor-binding protein is highly expressed in human liver and kidney and in lower levels in brain and other organs, according to available transcriptomic data. In mouse brain, RNA transcripts are quite abundant across many parts of the forebrain, with proteomic data suggesting localisation in neuronal somata and their processes. Indeed, strong intensity immunostaining of networks of neuronal processes (axons+dendrites) is noticed in the olfactory bulb external plexiform layer and throughout the entire forebrain. This pattern is rather restricted to a few gray matter areas in the brainstem, like to the periaqueductal gray matter or around the fourth ventricle in the medulla, including the locus coeruleus - pericoerulear region. In addition, moderate-strong intensity somato-dendritic immunostaining of neurons is noticed in sparse neocortical neurons, in the lateral septum, caudate putamen, globus pallidus, ventral pallidum, some thalamic nuclei, hippocampus, multiple brainstem nuceli and in the cerebellar Purkinje-cells. The dendritic network of Purkinje-neurons is nicely depicted.
